Tyreke Evans (20), who was the NBA Rookie of the Year, was arrested after he was caught on a police plane video camera on Memorial Day, racing a friend in his Mercedes S550 at speeds up to 130 MPH on Interstate 80 in Sacramento, California.Evens and his friend both pled no contest to reckless driving charges.
Evans might just seem like a 20 year-old kid who is just having a bit of naughty fun by driving fast, but he has a history.
On June of 2010 Tyreke cousin Jamar Evans (18) was convicted of the drive-by shooting murder of Marcus Reason and sentenced to 9 to 20 years in prison. A lot of people have relatives who commit crimes, except Tyreke was the driver of the car Jamar was in when he shot and killed Reason, but Tyreke was never charged with a crime, yet here Tyreke is again doing dangerous things with a car.
It’s very possible Tyreke could end up in jail early in his NBA career, which makes me wonder how many NBA and NFL players have a criminal history.
